In Pursuit of Fitness
Apr. 14th, 2010 09:46 pmI keep changing my work outs to keep from getting too bored or frustrated. But, I have to keep with a program for at least a couple of weeks to actually get results. This sometimes results in fitness flailing.
Right now, I thought to try an improve my ability to run. Not that I like running all that much, but there are progressive programs to follow, so I'm actually see results. Except....
Saturday was running faster, not longer. All in all, it was a great workout. Right up until the second lap of the last mile, when the calf cramp I was going to work through quickly escalated into a torn muscle (more commonly known as a pulled muscle). Minor, but still.
I've been treating it right, RICE and all of that, and it was fine enough by Monday that it didn't bother me at karate on Monday. I still played it cautious and skipped the planned run on Tuesday, and today was weights.
I re-injured the muscle going down the stairs on my way to the gym tonight. It hurts worse than before. I skipped most of the leg work, and now I'm RICE-ing it again. It's going to be at least two more weeks before I feel I can run again.
Bah. I don't especially like cardio work, but I still miss it when I don't get enough.
